Easy Updates: Easy Artwork.

My daughter's room has this empty wall:

Solution: Cheap & Easy Wall Art.

Supplies: 2 black wooden picture frames (Dollar Tree, $2)
2 white picture mattes (Dollar Tree, $1)
pretty notebook cover (Walmart, $2)

I played around with the placement of the
mattes before I cut the notebook into 2 pieces.
Then I taped each piece in place
and placed them in the frames.
Done!

A close-up:

And the doggie purse hook from last week found a nice home too ;)

Easy Updates: Custom Media Boxes.

We're trying to become a mostly digital houselhold. But we still have some media that we just don't plan to get rid of; namely VHS tapes and Nintendo games.
The problem:
I am not fond of those media towers.
So how do we store them?

Solution: Media boxes!
While media boxes tend to be inexpensive, they tend to only store a few at a time. And they are not always attractive. But I knew I could make my own with a little creative thinking.

So enter two empty boxes that were headed to the recycling bin. I removed both lids, then I covered each box in scrapbook paper.

I tried a colorblock pattern with the largest box. I simply cut large rectangles of the color paper and taped them in place using masking tape.

After their scrapbook paper makeovers, each box found a new home.

The larger box was missing something,
so I added a monogram letter!...my favorite finishing touch!

Total cost: FREE :)

Thrifty Thursdays.

This hanger was 3 bucks.
It's awesome because:
1. funky color combo.
2. cute polka dot dog with handsome bow tie.
3. $3, enough said.
Ofcourse I bought it.
It will live in my daughter's room.
She said she wanted a dog ;)
I love a bargain.

Mood Board Mondays.

Today's mood board is for my first design client!
Style: Simple & Transitional

Her master bedroom
has great pieces of furniture.
She just wants a little icing for the cake ;)
1. We will do a wall treatment of stenciled chrysanthemums behind the bed.
2. Floor length window treatments will be added.
3. We're trying out different options for benches at the foot of the bed.
4. She has a large ottoman that I will recover in cleanable fabric. ]
Budget: $200
I love a challenge ;)

Welcome.

Welcome to my blog.

I love design.

I love to save money.

I'm learning how to combine the two without compromising either.

Watch me work.
